Chapter 8 Choice
Chapter 8 Choice
In fact, Lu Chen was also testing him. He believed that Mike was not the kind of person who hired mercenaries without thinking. Anyone who used their brain a little should understand that things were not that simple.
Moreover, with only five people, they are simply unable to withstand any blows. If they are not careful, the werewolf mercenary group will be wiped out.
"What are you waiting for? Just sit here and wait." James said loudly before Mike could speak, showing his annoyance with Lu Chen's many questions.
Anthony smiled and said, "Boss, I think Shen is right. We should discuss this properly."
Alex was constantly wiping his submachine gun, and as he did so, he said, "Shen seems to have made up his mind."
Mike looked at everyone, nodded, and said, "Let's rest and talk. Lu Chen, what are your thoughts?" After he finished speaking, he sat down on the ground and took out some food to share with everyone.
Lu Chen took a piece of beef jerky, took a big bite, drank some water, and said seriously, "Now there's a problem: whether Rahman's people or Ibn's people will arrive first is unknown. But even if Ibn's people arrive first, can we escape unscathed? It's not uncommon for people to be discarded after their usefulness has been over."
"It's not good for us no matter who comes first. The best way is for us to leave here so they can't find us. Then we can wait for an opportunity to strike," Lu Chen paused and continued.
The root cause of these problems is that the werewolf mercenary group is too weak, barely enough to be a basic unit to take on missions. If Lu Chen doesn't join, they won't even be qualified to take on missions in Iraq.
"Is it really that dangerous? Don't exaggerate." James said with a disdainful look.
Lu Chen smiled and shrugged helplessly, saying, "Mike, whether it's Rahman or Ibn, there are definitely a lot of people coming this time, at least several hundred. There are only five of us. Do you think we can handle it? You're the captain, so the decision is yours. Whether the Werewolf Mercenary Group can survive depends on you."
After he finished speaking, he stood up, lit a cigarette, and looked at the huge radar vehicle while thinking that if Mike continued to act recklessly, he should leave as soon as possible. Following this kind of person would only lead to his demise.
After circling around, he returned to Mike and looked at him earnestly.
Mike looked at Lu Chen, and after a long while, he nodded vigorously and said loudly, "Chen is right. We should retreat immediately, take everyone with us, and eliminate all traces."
Lu Chen nodded at Mike; this guy does have some brains.
A few minutes later, Mike led everyone back to the yard.
He glanced at the security guards in the courtyard. These were locals, about twenty in number, the kind who would risk their lives for money. He decisively said, "Alex, take them to the side jungle. The rest of you, get in the car with me."
Soon, Lu Chen and the others got into the Hummer. The car sped ahead, followed by twenty security guards. About half an hour later, they entered a jungle.
After arranging for security guards to stand guard around the perimeter, Mike waved to Lu Chen and the others, signaling them to gather around.
Soon the group sat down together, and Mike said seriously, "Anthony, find a good position and be ready to provide fire support at any time. James and Alex, you two take the security guards and be on guard. Chen, come with me to observe the situation." After he finished speaking, he waved to everyone.
The group quickly dispersed, leaving only Lu Chen and Mike. Mike waved to him and walked towards a higher spot.
The two quickly hid under a large tree. Lu Chen took out his binoculars and looked towards the town. The location was excellent, allowing a clear view of the entire town. A dirt road ran through the front of the town, easily separating it into east and west directions.
Lu Chen pointed to the road to the east and said, "Rahman's people should appear from there. Their primary target should still be the security company headquarters. They won't be able to find the basement in a short time."
"And Ibn's men won't find the basement anytime soon. If both sides are close in time, they'll fight," he continued.
"That's right, in your words, it's called 'waiting for a rabbit to run into a tree stump,' isn't that one of the Thirty-Six Stratagems?" Mike said with great interest. He was increasingly admiring this Chinese lad; he was clever and resourceful, and his marksmanship and hand-to-hand combat skills were both quite good.
"No, this is a Chinese idiom," Lu Chen said, waving his hand. He didn't know if it was in the Thirty-Six Stratagems, but he was sure it was an idiom.
As he spoke, he looked ahead through his binoculars. The sun was setting in the west, and the afterglow of the sunset fell on the town. Everything seemed so quiet and peaceful. After a battle, one or two people could be seen on the street occasionally, but they would just hurry by.
Thinking about the war that was about to break out, he also worried about these civilians. Civilians suffer the most from war, and if possible, he wanted to establish a country without war on this land.
Thinking of this, he quickly shook his head vigorously. He gave a bitter smile. He was just an ordinary security guard, an unofficial mercenary of the werewolf company. He had parents and a sister to take care of. Why should he stay and suffer like this?
Mike gave Lu Chen a thumbs up and said with a smile, "Chen, you are very knowledgeable. We need you. Look at this country, it's in a terrible state. Let's work together to manage it well."
"Stop! I don't want to sacrifice myself for this country. I want to go home," Lu Chen said quickly. He kept reminding himself that he was just an ordinary security guard and that he had a family to take care of.
Just then, a voice came through Mike's walkie-talkie: "Boss, there's a situation. A large number of armed men have appeared on the main road to the east, in dozens of cars. Judging from the situation, they should be Rahman's men. They are about two kilometers away."
"Keep observing, everyone stay hidden, remain vigilant," Mike said quickly. He then looked through his binoculars.
Lu Chen stared at the main road to the east through his binoculars. Not long after, the roar of cars could be heard, and the ground trembled slightly. As he observed, he said, "Thirty trucks, about ten people in each truck. There are about three hundred people in total. Each truck is equipped with a heavy machine gun. No other heavy firepower has been detected." This was all he could see.
As they closed in, the militants reached the entrance to the town and village. The vehicles did not stop but went directly into the village. Then, sporadic gunshots could be heard from inside. They must have encountered civilians in the village. They even killed civilians. What a bunch of beasts! Lu Chen thought to himself as he clenched his fists.
"Heavy, they're in! They actually shot civilians! They're damned! We still haven't heard from Ibn's men," Mike said with a worried expression. As he spoke, he pulled back the bolt of his rifle to check the ammunition; he was clearly furious.
