Becoming the Villain's Discarded Wife

Chapter 41_1

Chapter 41_1

Chapter 41: 41_1Just as she was wondering whether Shi Tou had gone back while she was catching river prawns, she heard Ms. Sun calling out from not far away.

"Nanzhi! Quick, save him! Shi Tou...Shi Tou’s drowning!"

Nanzhi was a bit stunned by Ms. Sun’s words, which hit her like a bolt from the blue. Shi Tou, was he, drowning?

The water level of the river couldn’t possibly be high enough to drown a person.

She was only stunned for a moment before immediately stepping towards Shi Tou’s direction, and as a result, she slipped after only a couple of steps and found a deep pit at that location where even an adult like her couldn’t stand steady.

In the end, she had to hold her breath and dip her head into the water, straining her eyes to

"If you want your Shi Tou to live, then shut up!"

Ms. Wu shrank back instantly, not daring to move forward anymore. She simply collapsed on the spot, continuing to wail.

"Nanzhi, what do we do next?" Ms. Sun also deemed Ms. Wu to be unreasonable, blaming Nanzhi instead of concentrating on saving her own son in such a crucial moment.

Nanzhi glanced at Shi Tou, lying silent on the ground, and started to remember the emergency first aid methods she had learned for drowning victims: "Open his mouth and check if there is anything obstructing inside."

Upon hearing Nanzhi’s instructions, the man carefully did as told and found a piece of weed lodged in Shi Tou’s mouth.

"It’s out now, what’s next?"

"Brother Zhuzi, it’s going to be a bit tough on you," Nanzhi said, looking at the man.

"It’s okay, just tell me what to do next quickly." Zhuzi, looking at Shi Tou, spoke out. There was no hardship in this for him, as long as Shi Tou could be saved, that would be the greatest thing.

"Brother Zhuzi, you keep Shi Tou’s head straight, cover his mouth, and breathe into it. Give him a breath and then rest for a while."

Upon hearing this, although Zhuzi looked puzzled, he followed Nanzhi’s instructions and gave Shi Tou breath-by-breath resuscitation. After roughly five to six resuscitations, Nanzhi finally asked him to stop.

"Now, Brother Zhuzi, put your hand on Shi Tou’s chest and press down hard. After thirty compressions, blow air into his mouth twice and repeat until Shi Tou reacts."

"Alright." Zhuzi did not ask further questions, just following Nanzhi’s instructions to the letter. After performing thirty chest compressions and giving Shi Tou two rescue breaths three times, everyone watched as Shi Tou remained motionless. They all feared that Shi Tou was beyond saving.

Just when they began to feel regret, they saw Shi Tou’s throat twitch. He spit out the water lodged in his throat with a loud retch and then began to sob loudly.

"He’s alive! Shi Tou’s alive!"

A few excited cries came from Ms. Sun’s group. Ms. Wu’s face was tear-streaked, and hearing the cry of her own son finally brought her back from her daze. She crawled over in haste and embraced Shi Tou with wrenching sobs.

"Shi Tou, my Shi Tou!"

"Quickly, take Shi Tou to the village doctor." Zhuzi, seeing Shi Tou tightly held by Ms. Wu, spoke out. He was fully aware of how strong he had pressed down during the resuscitation. He didn’t want Shi Tou to suffer any internal injuries.

Though the boy was awake now, they didn’t know whether he could have any lingering problems. That is something only a doctor could tell.

"Oh, oh..."

Giving her assent, Ms. Wu quickly attempted to pick up Shi Tou to rush him to the village doctor’s house. However, her strength was drained from crying so much, and she could not lift him up no matter how hard she tried. It was only when a man saw this and felt pity for her, that he relieved her of Shi Tou and sprinted towards the village doctor’s house.

The women also followed suit, leaving only Nanzhi and Ms. Sun behind.

"Nanzhi, you should rest a bit." Seeing that Nanzhi looked pale, Ms. Sun realized she must be exhausted and helped her sit down on a rock.

"Thank you, Sister Sun. " Nanzhi felt completely drained. She was not exactly good at swimming; managing to stay afloat in the water could be considered a precarious achievement on her part. She wondered if she would have sank under the water if Shi Tou had been conscious enough to struggle.

Fortunately, Shi Tou was alright now.

"Mama, Mama." Gougou had been frantically searching for his mother after he noticed her missing. Now that Shi Tou was safe, and his mother was able to sit and rest, he ran over with a worried expression on his face.
